IDWC Annual Breakfast Meeting-Women Organize for Action

Annual Breakfast Meeting

Sunday, March 11, 2018 | 9 am | $25
Red Lion Hotel Boise Downtowner, 1800 Fairview Ave, Boise.

Women Organize for Action

Over the past year, America saw women organize for action. The strength of this effort was confirmed by the 2 nd Anniversary of the Women’s March on Washington. This universal action was marked with concurrent marches around the country including here in Boise at the State Capital. These marches drew thousands of women and men together to demonstrate for Women’s Empowerment. More importantly, this historic civil rights movement emboldened women around the country to take a greater role in our political process. In fact, more women than ever before are running for elective office. The Idaho Democratic Women’s Caucus celebrates this momentous change. Furthermore, the IDWC is fully committed to making this potential political shift a reality.

Consequently, we wholeheartedly invite Democratic Women throughout Idaho to show their support by gathering with us for our Annual Membership Meeting on March 11. If you believe in electing more Democratic Women to public office, we need you to join our organization and participate in making it a reality.

To become a member, you must complete the Registration Form and pay member dues. Annual membership dues are $20. Seniors (65>) and students can join for $10.

The Registration Form includes options to either join the caucus or renew an existing membership. Completing this section of the form is only necessary if you are registering as a new member or renewing your membership.

If you intend to participate in the annual meeting, please check the box to include payment for the breakfast. Meeting admission, including the breakfast, is $25.  Although we would love to see you, attending the annual breakfast is not a prerequisite for membership.

About the IDWC

The IDWC advocates for women’s issues, educates women about the Democratic Party, supports Democratic candidates and prepares women to successfully run for office.

Membership Meeting

Although our annual membership meeting centers on enjoying a great breakfast and discussion, the agenda also includes the election of individuals to vacant IDWC leadership positions. Therefore, we encourage our members to stand for election. If this idea appeals to you, check out the details of our Membership Elections in the next section of this post.

Membership Elections

We will hold elections for the following positions:

  • IDWC Chair and Vice Chair
  • IDWC Region Directors (The open regions are 2, 4, and 6)

Consequently, if you wish to be considered for a position, please submit your name and a summary of your qualifications to Barb Harris. If you seek to hold a Regional position, please include the region. Region info is available on our Contact page.

Dottie Stimpson & Distinguished Woman Award Nominations

Also, don’t forget that we are seeking nominees for the Dottie Stimpson and the Distinguished Woman awards. The Stimpson award honors an IDWC member who demonstrates perseverance, persistence, patience, passion, commitment and leadership. IDWC co-founder Dottie Stimpson inspired the award. The Distinguish Woman award, on the other hand, is a way for us to recognize the contributions of rising star.

You can submit a nominee by filling out the online Nomination Form or submit the nomination details in an e-mail to our Committee Chair: Shirley McFaddan. All nominees must be active IDWC Members. Submission are due by February 15.
