Every year, Idaho Democrats gather in Boise to celebrate the lives and legacies of Idaho’s first couple: Frank and Bethine Church. This annual gala also serves as a lead in for the IDWC Annual Membership Meeting and Breakfast. The Gala takes place Saturday evening, March 14 from 6 – 9:30 pm. Our meeting and breakfast follows, on Sunday morning, March 15 from 8 am-12 pm. This breakfast is the time that the IDWC elects its new leadership and presents the Dottie Stimpson Award which recognizes the contributions of an active member of the IDWC.

Our statewide election did not come out the way we had hoped despite all our hard work. However, we did have some successes at the local level and we can celebrate those elections. Thank you for all your hard work in helping our candidates with their campaigns. Now we need to work on next year and the 1st thing that comes to mind is our Dottie Stimpson Award. We will be presenting the Award at our annual Membership Meeting in Boise in March.
Dottie Stimpson Award Nominations
The Dottie Stimpson Award honors a woman who has demonstrated perseverance, persistence, patience, passion, commitment and leadership such as Dottie Stimpson has over the years as she founded the Idaho Democratic Women’s Caucus. Dottie’s work on behalf of the Democratic Party and the Women’s Caucus has been significant, and in this way, we honor her loyalty, energy, and support. If you would like to nominate an IDWC member for this award, please contact Shirley McFaddan, Chair of the Awards Committee. The Deadline for submitting names is January 15, 2015.
Membership Renewals Due
It’s past time to renew your membership. If you have already renewed or you do this every year at the Frank Church IDWC Membership Breakfast, please disregard this message. Remember to be able to participate on the executive board or a committee or to vote at the membership meeting, you need to be a member in good standing. So it is very important that dues are paid regularly, as they help support our organization’s activities.
Going through the list of members there are quite a few who have not paid this year 2014 or 2013. We have it now set up online, so you can renew your membership or become a member here and pay your yearly dues. It is so easy that many members pay their dues this way. Check it out!
We have blue t-shirts for the day when we have “Blue on the Hill”. Holli Woodings started this last year. Let’s continue it! We can wear them at events, parades, and picnics. Let’s show that we are proud to be Democrats. The t-shirt tagline is “This Dem is a Gem”. We are the “Gem State” and we, ladies are certainly gems. Order one of our new fabulous T-shirts here.
Thank you for your participation and cooperation.
Barb Harris, Chair of the Idaho Democratic Woman’s Caucus
Spring is here and we need your assistance to raise money for the Idaho Democratic Women’s Caucus. So clean out those closets and find gently used items that you no longer need or use. Remember that this is an IDWC Annual Fundraiser in Kootenai County. As in past years, we are asking for item donations such as clothing, small appliances, furniture and other great stuff for our sale. We are so grateful to everyone who has supported this sale in past years and we hope this year will be as successful.
If you have items you can donate, call 208-818-1076 to arrange a drop-off. Items should be delivered to 1802 N 5th Street, Coeur d’Alene ID. (corner of 5th and Poplar Street). The drop point is the big garage behind the house on Poplar Street.
Let’s make this year the BEST ever.
Please deliver your donated items before May 20th so that we have time to sort and price everything before the sale. Also, for those with the time and inclination, please consider volunteering to help with set up and to work the sale by collecting money. If you are interested in helping out, please call and let me know.
The Idaho Democratic Women’s Caucus recognizes the immeasurable contributions by IDWC founder and lifetime Democrat Jeanne Buell. She is a longtime Idaho Democratic Party leader and we are thrilled that her efforts are finally being recognized by our organization. She is currently the vice chair of the Idaho Democratic Party and has long labored in the trenches working hard to advance the principles that guide Democrats. She has been an instrumental and dedicated contributor to the Party building efforts of the Idaho Democrats and the IDWC for many, many years. We are so grateful for her leadership and how she leaders others by example.
