Donna was elected to the District 26B House Seat in 2004 and served 6 terms before retiring in 2016. As a District 26 Legislator, she was always available to her constituents. Whenever a problem arose, Donna made it a priority to listen to concerns and take immediate action to find solutions.picture of Donna PenceDonna was out and about the District and available to community members and elected officials. She worked for her constituents throughout the year not just during the Legislative Session in Boise.
A graduate of the University of Idaho and with a Masters in Education from Idaho State University, Donna worked up to leadership roles in the Nature Conservancy’s “Thousand Springs Festival”, and was active in the Idaho Education Association serving in local and regional positions. She served as a State Director of The American Association of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation for 6 years, and held local and state position in Delta Kappa Gamma (a teacher’s society) including State President. She has also served three terms as Worthy Matron for Cosmopolitan Chapter of Eastern Star and filled many offices of the Gooding United Methodist Church.
She has had a lifelong commitment to providing educational and sporting opportunities for girls. She has established leagues, coached in both paid and volunteer positions, and tirelessly advocated for equal facilities and scheduling for girls in Track and Field, Basketball, Volleyball, and Softball. Donna served on the Education, Natural Resources, and Ag Committees and in 2013 was elected as Minority Caucus Chair. She was a delegate to the Democrat Convention last year.
She retired in 2016 after identifying Sally Toone to run successfully for the office. She is still active in the party, currently serving as Gooding County Chairman and Vice Chairman of Legislative District 26. Donna is an excellent choice to be honored for her past work and we know she has more to offer. She is a great role model for the women in this state.
