Annual Breakfast
It is time for our annual IDWC breakfast meeting, which is held the day after the Frank & Bethine Gala in Boise. Remember that this year is potentially historic with a female candidate running for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. We encourage all Democrats to support our organization at this year’s breakfast to support our efforts in electing more women into public office.
The 2016 IDWC Breakfast will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at the Hampton Inn Downtown, 495 S. Capitol Blvd., in Boise at 8 am. Tickets are $25.00 per person and can be bought on Eventbrite or in person. Our keynote speaker is Andrea Wassner, who is a Claims representative for the Social Security Administration since 1986 at their office in Caldwell and sits on the Idaho AFL-CIO Board as a District 7 Representative. She will be speaking about Social Security and its ability to continue as we know it in the future. In addition to enjoying a great breakfast and discussion, members will help elect individuals to fill IDWC leadership positions.
Only members in good standing will be able to vote during the meeting. Membership dues are $20. Seniors (65 and older) and students can join for $10. Attendees can either join or renew their membership by completing the Registration Form and paying their membership dues. Our membership dues are essential to our organization’s efforts to fulfilling our goals this election season.
Additionally, we are holding elections for the following positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, Region 2 Director, Region 4 Director, Region 6 Director, and Region 7 Director. If you want to be considered for a position, you must submit your name and a brief summary of your qualifications to our organization. If you seek to hold a Regional position, please include the region. Region information is available on our Officers page. Remember the nominee must live in one of the counties of the region.
Remember that we are seeking nominees for the Dottie Stimpson Award. The award honors an IDWC member who has demonstrated perseverance, persistence, patience, passion, commitment, and leadership. The award is named for IDWC co-founder Dottie Stimpson. You can submit a nominee by contacting our Committee Chair: Shirley McFaddan with the nomination details.
We are also planning on having a small live auction to benefit our organization. If you have something valuable that you would like to donate, please let us know. Finally, we are holding a prize drawing where the winner will receive an Insignia/Flex 8″ Tablet but only if we have your email.
