Idaho’s Own: Senator Melissa Wintrow Honored as NFDW Outstanding Elected Democratic Woman

The Idaho Democratic Women’s Caucus is proud to celebrate Senator Melissa Wintrow, who has been named the 2025 Outstanding Elected Democratic Woman Holding Public Office by the National Federation of Democratic Women (NFDW). This national award honors a Democratic woman in public office who exemplifies leadership, commitment to Democratic values, and unwavering support for women in the political arena.
Senator Wintrow currently serves as the Minority Leader of the Idaho Senate, representing District 19. She has long been a fierce advocate for justice, equity, and public service, building a reputation as a principled and compassionate leader. From her early work in higher education to her legislative focus on public health, education, and women’s rights, Wintrow has consistently championed the issues that matter most to Idahoans.
Throughout her political career, she has been a mentor and inspiration to women across the state, encouraging them to run for office, use their voices, and stay engaged in the democratic process. Her ability to lead with integrity and bring people together across divides has made a lasting impact not just in her district, but statewide. Earlier this year, she was also named a 2025 ICON by the Idaho Business Review, further recognizing her contributions to public service.
The NFDW’s recognition of Senator Wintrow places Idaho in the national spotlight and underscores the power of women’s leadership in shaping policy and building a more inclusive future. We congratulate her on this well-deserved honor and look forward to the continued strength, insight, and vision she brings to our state and beyond.
